Retrospective marriage tax allowance widow

Hi,
Just wondered what others experiences are with getting back payments of marriage tax allowance? In Jan 2021 my mum did a retrospective claim as she was entitled to it when she had retired and my dad was still working. My dad has died but she was told she was entitled to a retrospective payment for the period when he was still alive. We chased it up in the summer as still hadn’t heard but were told she was still in the queue. A year after the initial claim we chased it again, apparently still in the queue?!!! I understand they have been busy with Covid schemes but a year??!!! How long has it taken for other people to get payments? Any advice?

I know of a case where the claim was made in March 2020 and there is no sign of a refund.1

Do you mean your mum applied on behalf of your late dad i.e. he was giving up some of his allowance and your mum would be the person who was going to be the one receiving the tax benefit (her own tax liability would be reduced).0

Yes, sorry, bit of a rambling post. Dad was earning, mum had retired.0

I think that's no then, not yes!Essexbabe said:Yes, sorry, bit of a rambling post. Dad was earning, mum had retired.
Your mum was applying in her own name, giving up some of her own Personal Allowance so that your dad's tax was reduced?
If that is correct then when did your dad die?0 -
He died in June 2017, so claiming for tax year 2016/17 and a bit of 2017, which HMRC said was fine.0
