Can you explain why you have a P45 and a P60?0
-
P45 from changing employment in August 20 and P60 issued in April 210

Did the P60 not include the previous employment details? Either way I presume that you completed two employment sections on your return.BlueMickey said:P45 from changing employment in August 20 and P60 issued in April 210

If you claimed WFH expenses from HMRC why would your salary be adjusted???BlueMickey said:Hi All,
Thanks for your help with this, been a hectic week so just catching up. A few things to come back on answers to questions:
Tax Code on P45 was 1250L
Tax Code on P60 is 1281L
I do WFH which I did claim for, in my naivety I just thought my salary each month would be adjusted. How should I include this on my tax return?
Another n00b question (apologies), how do I check which tax code I should be on?
Or have you claimed WFH expenses from one (or both) of your employer's as well??
The tax code for a different tax year are irrelevant for the current tax year. The emergency tax code is what most people are on, 1257L. If you have claimed WFH expenses from HMRC for the current tax year then it might be 1288L.
But it could be totally different. Have you asked HMRC to provisionally collect any of this year's HICBC through your tax code? Anything else which might impact your tax code allowances??0

The P60 did include both employments details, and yes I've completed two separate employments on the tax return.purdyoaten2 said:

I've not asked HMRC to do that (didn't know you could). After spending 55 minutes on hold waiting to speak to someone I got disconnected and haven't found the time to try again sinceDazed_and_C0nfused said:

The amount of PAYE tax doesn't make sense with those tax codes. Are you sure the tax code dooesn't have a M1 or W1 or X at the end?Are you sure you've entered the correct totals for your salaries and tax paid on the tax return?0

This is sounding like some sort of problem arising from the change of jobs.
Can you advise the P45 figures and month number on it.
Then from P60 the previous gross tax figures and this employment gross tax figures and if an X after last tax code.0

I'm glad you guys are here, really appreciative of your help and advice.
So my P45 totals are (month number 5)
 Total pay to date: £20,531.33
 Total tax to date: £3063.80
 P60 as follows:
 Gross Pay 33403.23
 Pay(*) 30,952.27
 Tax (R=Refund) 5209.60 (I don't know what this is I didn't receive a refund)
 Final Tax code is 1281L
 Totals for Year
 Pay 53,022.27
 Tax 8581.20
I've triple checked the figures and had someone else check too.zagfles said:The amount of PAYE tax doesn't make sense with those tax codes. Are you sure the tax code dooesn't have a M1 or W1 or X at the end?Are you sure you've entered the correct totals for your salaries and tax paid on the tax return?0

There is something wrong there. The P45 pay figure and P60 figures fo not add up to 53022.27. (You entered 53934 originally which is correct)
The P45 and P60 figures for tax do not add up to 8581.20. On the original calculation that you posted you entered 8273 - which is also correct. What is the ‘Pay(*)’ figure?0

On my P60 the Pay (*) figure for this employment is 30,952 and Pay for Previous Employments is £22,070.[Deleted User] said:There is something wrong there. The P45 pay figure and P60 figures fo not add up to 53022.27. (You entered 53934 originally which is correct)

I'm getting the emails from HMRC to pay up on the tax bill before end of Jan as well.0
