Student loan (am I being stupid)
Options
Hello,
I've been weighing up whether to do a part time degree course, and also trying to work out if I'm mad or not for even thinking of doing it at the age of 34...but that's another story.
Silly question, but can you apply for a student loan even if you haven't made your mind up about even doing the course first? I've been wrestling with the idea for ages, but I think it can take between 6-8 weeks for an application to even be processed. So if I applied, and 2 months down the line I think - no im being an idiot, can I just pull the plug?
Thanks

I was older than 34 when I went to university and built a new career off the back of it. Absolutely no regrets.
You apply for the student loan. You don't receive the first payment until the university confirms your enrolment and attendance on the course, so apply as soon a you can, you won't accidentally get stuck in a big loan agreement.Debt Free: 01/01/2020

Brilliant that you're considering your options @Dd88. Just wanted to say that I started a part-time Master's degree a few months ago. I'm also 34. It's brought so much extra meaning to my life and I'm glad I decided to do it. (Though I realise it's a very personal thing and other people will have wildly different experiences.)
@Jami74 - Really good to hear about your experience of uni and your new career.1
