Remortgage and NHS probationary period

Hi. Mortgage deal ends on 1 April 2022, so I need to remortgage. I have worked for the NHS for 20 years, but in September moved to a new NHS Trust, so am officially am on a probationary period, even though it is continuous NHS employment and I have employment rights etc. Does anyone know how companies will view this, and is there anything I can do to help - eg a letter from my employer stating that the post will be permanent? The probationary period actually ends on 22 March, so before the new mortgage would actually start, but will obviously need to be agreed before then. Many thanks.

  • Can you not just remortgage with your current lender? I do not believe its an application again, just a piece of paper you sign to change the rate.
  • Can't see any high street lender caring about this to be honest.  Its stable employment and probation is a formality

@tom1965 What JMA said, your probation is unlikely to cause you any issues with a remortgage (changing to a new lender)

If you're not looking to increase borrowing or change term, you could also look at doing a product-switch/product-transfer/rate-switch (staying with the same lender) which does not involve any income verification.

I wouldn't worry about it as I've recently got my first mortgage during my probation period, so long as you can still provide 3 payslips and 3 months of bank statements.
As previously advised, you can remortgage with your current lender and see if they can offer you a lower rate.
