I have been offered a settlement (over £150k) by my former employer for unfair dismissal and would like to know if there is any way of reducing the amount of tax payable on the award (apart from having it paid into a pension or splitting the payment over two financial periods).

What is the breakdown of the award - compensation, loss of earnings, holiday pay etc? Splitting the payment as you state is not feasible.0
