Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, air is cold and frosty.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner was gammon, egg and chips/salad. Not sure what we'll be having tonight - will have a look in the cupboards - trying to look at different recipes.
I'm generally happy with what I got done yesterday, I have a click and collect order first thing this morning, first time I've done this so waiting to see how it works, hoping it's not all gone wrong and I then have to venture into shops.
Working tomorrow morning, tried to swap but no-one interested so have to go in.
Will have a pottering day.
Keep safe and well x

Thank you for starting NMLC.
Gammon, Egg and Chips sounds lovely - I haven't had that for ages so may add it to my meal ideas list!
I had a rubbish day yesterday - I won't bore you with it but it was one of those situations that left me wondering why managers make promises then keep delaying actually implementing them! I am particularly sensitive at the moment so it doesn't take much to put me on a downer!
Anyway, I am determined today will be a better day as Captain Sir Tom would say!
I am up and about early and will do my usual hoover round and then I need to pop to town to collect something and then to go to the library and exchange my books. When I get back I will be working from home. After work I would like to clean one more bedroom and bathroom to free me up for a nice quiet weekend without too many chores!
It's sausages with new potatoes and veg for dinner today.
I hope you are all well - we are half way through January now - it always feels like a very long month!
Take care all
x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, shame you have to work tomorrow.
Sorry you are feeling down ttcb, hope today is better for you.
I was fast asleep when the pesky alarm went off although I was awake for a while in the night. Still, it's Friday at last.
8 staff down yesterday, we really are struggling at the moment, Monday should see some folk back.
I have DD's car today, it's going to get new brakes and the chap collects from school so will take it back to her on my way home. It's quite nice to be high up on the road and be one of the bigger cars for a change!
Housework to do when I get home, I spilled some water on the floor last night and was shocked at the state of the floor when I wiped it up so the mop will be out! Really noticed the extra light last night.
Happy Friday, take care. XX11 -
Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.Hope you have a better day today Ttcb.I didn't feel well late last night, cold, shivery, bit of a throat and sneezing, I thought I was in for Dh's cold, yet this morning I feel ok, strange.I made Dgd's cake yesterday and will ice it today, I'll have to get a card for her as well, I should have made one really.I'll tidy up a bit as well, got a couple of friends coming tonight.Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, take care folks.12

Morning folks.Yesterday I tackled the cupboards in the kitchen. There's a pile of unwanted / unneeded saucepans now piled up waiting to be collected. The space left by them is now being used for my tinned goods. For a while I was wondering how to do it as the cupboard is low down under the built in oven and so not very accessible (especially as it's deep) and I can't reach the back of it. Eventually my brain went 'ping' with an idea... I still had the big box my new mixer came in. I cut off the flaps and it fitted perfectly sideways in the cupboard. 😀 it's now got my small collection of tins and jars in and I can just pull it out partway. The other side now has the small wooden crate I was given for Christmas full of baking ingredients. I'm so blooming pleased with myself. 😇
My trip to the tip was satisfying as I collared one of the management for a quick 'observation' - i.e. complaint - about the recycling bit. I'd been maturing this comment for ages so it was good to get the chance to get rid of it!
My main meal was more of the fabby red cabbage with pork belly. I added in a pile of steamed broccoli and cauliflower to up the veg intake.
Once again today is open to invitation. Once January is over I shall develop a structure, for now I'm still getting used to only looking after myself and beginning to relax into it. All's well.Hugs and good vibes to our poorlies and missing.Happy Friday to all. 🌺14 -
Morning
Lovely and icy out there today looks so pretty. Not going out anywhere apart from the bin so can enjoy the view
Foot still sore but keeping it at bay with drugs so I can get on with life. Yesterday managed to empty and restock the DW and tidy up and sort the delivery in the kitchen. Thanks for all the thoughts you gorgeous lot
Delivery arrived yesterday 3 subs. 6 barm cakes instead of 4, tinned sardines instead of mackeral and twice as many sprouts than I had ordered all in my favour so happy days.
The fish finger butty was heaven on a stick I made some tartar sauce to go with it. I’ll have that again
I’ve dragged a steak and kidney pie out of the freezer today inspired by nan but mines not a lovely HM version just a Hollands version but it’s better for one so I’ll have some of the veg and maybe a jacket. I do have a problem as all my home made stuff generates weeks worth of leftovers and the freezer is so stuffed I need to be eating more from there so I have a plan to have one cook and generate a week then the other 6 days eat from the stocks. I’ll pacify myself with some baking maybe. This should run it down a bit. Watch this space
Nanny how did your steak pie go down with dad? Sounded lush even with the missing kidney. Hope he behaved
JackieO good to know the IOW move is still on the books I know you will be so happy there
TA Congratulations to your grand daughter what an achievement
Gers I love baking too and lemon drizzle is the best. Didn’t you used to do a coffee and walnut cake or am I in brain fog again? Your neighbours will love you forever with a constant cake supply
Have a good day all

PS to Nelski - yes, I used to do coffee and walnut cake as it's my favourite. Well remembered! I didn't bake yesterday as I didn't have loaf cake tins, all gone in my massive clear out last year. ☹️ Cue an online order to L*keland which'll come next week. I'll probably make a traybake one today if I can overcome inertia.11

Morning all, I'm up early this morning as the builder is back and the concrete lorry has arrived, I should be pleased that it's getting done, but at this unearthly hour, it's still dark for goodness sake ! Anyway on the plus side there is a beautiful red sky, but it is freezing again so I don't envy the workers out in this but they have already been plied with hot coffee. I hope the neighbours are in a forgiving mood 🙏
Today I need to look for some clothes to wear tomorrow for my scan, it appears that I can't wear anything with metal fasteners, so my jeans and most trousers are out, I'll end up in shorts at this rate 😂 There's a full ironing basket to tackle later too 🥴 not my favourite task by any means, especially as I've left it fill up. The dw needs emptying then I'll put the breakfast dishes in it, should have emptied it last night but I forgot and went straight to bed.
Jackie lovely to se you posting again.
Hugs to the poorly ones.
Take care if you have to go out

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another dry day ahead, we are getting spoiled! After a long string of rubbish sleeps last night caught up on me - not perfect but much better. I'll settle for that.
GERS you are sterner willed than me. If I went back to cake making there is only one person that would be eating them!
Boring day for me (they usually are) Friday Tidy with a dust and vac all round. Kitchen and bathroom got done yesterday. Once (if) the better weather arrives I am promising myself I will make a start on some spring cleaning. But not yet!
As far as Covid news goes DD's 6th day LFT was negative and if todays is the same she is free to wander the world. Youngest DGD is a day behind with her PCR test so today will be her 6th day. Fingers crossed! Neither of them have had any symptoms. Middle DGD escaped it and eldest went to stay with her dad as she was frightened of catching it too and having to take time off school (A levels). All being well she will be back with them this weekend!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones and injured (looking at you NELS) Take care one and all and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Hi Nels sorry cross posted, the pie went down very well with all of us. Dad took home another 2 portions of the pie, with lo veg and a portion of lo xmas pudding ( it was coming up to date in April so needed using up ) He was quite well behaved too ! Please tread carefully when you go to the bin.
Gers/ Nels my fav is coffee and walnut cake ... well any cake if I'm honest, but I'm not allowed now I'm back on the diet 😒

Morning all, thanks for the thread nmlc. Shame you have to work tomorrow ☹
TTCB – I hope you have a better day today, be kind to yourself x
Great idea for the cupboard Gers, and whoohoo to going to the tip – so satisfying!
Nanny – all good wishes for your scan tomorrow x
Nels – your food always sounds fab
DH and I shared a bottle of wine last night and then I had a couple of rum n cokes – on a school night – not good. I feel surprisingly okay this morning, although got up slightly later than usual. More of the same at work yesterday and today I have the delights of minute taking again, haven’t seen any agenda or previous minutes, or indeed had an invite yet, so not even sure what the meeting is about or who with.
Not sure who is here for tea – might be 4 or 5. If DDs bf isn’t here, we will have prawn curry with naan. If he’s here we will have chicken curry as he doesn’t like prawns. Both are currently frozen, so I need to know asap!
Have a good day everyone,
Coxy
