Hi is anyone able to advise me how I can challenge the council on my banding I think it’s to high. Bought a new home & told by them banding based on the value the house would have been in 1997. I need evidence that’s it’s incorrect for them to investigate. Anyone know where I could find house prices from 1997 please. Thank you

If you are in England and Scotland, CT bands are based on property values as at 1 April 1991.

If you are in Wales, CT bands are based on property values as at 1 April 2003.

1991 house prices are not in the public domain, but those for 2003 are. Look at bands of nearby similar properties to give you a rough idea if your band is correct or not.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
