Not sure if I have posted on in the right place.
I ordered a gift from a website i hadn't used before. They are a big well known company. I got a card through my letterbox saying they had left the parcel at my neighbours (the home delivery network) - i have checked with my neighbour and he hasn't taken it in I also checked the other side in case they got the number wrong - but they hadn't taken one in either. I trust my neighbours and don't think they would lie!
What do i do? Where do I stand on this - do i have any rights?
I haven't contacted the company as yet as I'm not sure where i stand. If anyone can help i'd be really grateful for your advice.
Thanks

Quite simple, call the Company, explain the situation, if they say they have delivered etc then ask who has signed for it, they will have to provide you with a name, if they dont they havent a leg to stand on.0

I had problems with a delivery from home delivery network (I ordered from the Johnlewis website). Basically, my order got 'lost' in the hands of home delivery network. I phoned and phoned John Lewis customer services and they eventually gave me a refund and £20. If it is John Lewis you ordered from, I would give them a call - be prepared to get transferred from person to person, but you'll get there in the end.
When calling home delivery network, did you use the 0870 number? If so, you could try calling the depot concerned directly instead. You will find the number on www.saynoto0870.com . Just enter hdnl in the 'search for an alternative number' section, and it will bring up a list of all the depots with the direct lines (no 0870 charges).

Their definition of neighbour includes almost anyone nearby. I had SEVERAL parcels from different companies like M & S , Boots etc delivered about the same time by HDL, the first was left with someone over the road (a busy A road, dont know anyone that side of the road) a hundred yards down the road. They took them in, and were obviously in during the day as the next few parcels were also dropped at their house. Several days later I got HDL to tell me just what house they had left them at, and went across and got them. Don't ask me why the "neighbour" hadn't told me they had taken them in, one was a large box and must have been in their way.
ANyway, try contacting them to ask for the exact address it was delivered to. And then complain!0
