in Cutting tax
I’m in the process of applying for a small mortgage.
The broker requires copies of my last 2 SA302 forms for proof of self employed earnings.

I haven’t filed for tax year 2020/2021 yet, so was going to give them 2018/2019 and 2019/2020.
2019/2020 is spot on but in 2018/2019 I bought a new commercial vehicle and that has been taken off my profit, I knew it would be for tax purposes but didn’t realise it would show as it does on the SA302.
It now looks like I earned much less that year than in 2019/2020.

Do I still submit the lower SA302 with supporting evidence or would it be best to complete my 2020/2021 return before Monday when I’m due to hand everything over to the broker?
Profits for my latest return will show ‘my earnings’ as normal.
It’s a small mortgage and the lower amount would probably be enough but I don’t want the mortgage company thinking my earnings are not consistent.

As you have to complete the return soon anyway, why not just do it?0

That’s probably what I shall end up doing. Although I’m somewhat apprehensive on what awaits regarding the Covid grants. My income was briefly effected before my customers realised they couldn’t do without me
. A few colleagues have mentioned that there is more to fill in than usual.
I do my accounts every month but for as long as I can remember I’ve always submitted my return in the last week of January, it’s become a bit of a tradition. I guess this year I’ll have to change that tradition.0
