Optician Advice?

So i decided to get some tinted aviator glasses and asked in an optician store after picking them out online.
I handed my prescription to the optician and She told me it would not be possible to have these frames tinted just clear, She explained the reason was something to do with my prescription and she told me to choose another style.
I decided not to bother if i could not have what i wanted, does this sound correct or should i go and ask elsewhere, I would doubt they would put a sale off for no reason of course.

When my nieces wanted tinted specs for holidays a few years back, the lenses were removed from the frames and dipped in a 'dye bath'. Cost was around £25. If you know your prescription, call different opticians to see if it's possible. Some materials are eg polycarbonate are more difficult to coat than others but there's ways round it, I was told.0
