in Loans
Hi everyone. We have a loan with Omni which we had been paying quite happily up until the start of the year. My husband was ill with covid and was also told to shield as he is clinically vulnerable. That meant he was only getting SSP. I called Omni and asked for a payment holiday and if i could add the payment to the end of the loan duration. I was told it should be OK. We missed one payment. Following that Omni bombarded me with calls saying I owed a month. I called them and was told by a very unhelpful lady that she had listened to my call and it was not agreed i could add it to the end. I have since been paying the full loan amount every month, however Omni are recording a missed payment every month from April. They said they will continue to do this until i have paid the owing month in full. I feel this is really unfair as i have not missed all these months, just the one. They will not budge on this and it is seriously harming my credit score. Is there anythihng more I can do? They will not help me at all!

They're marking it correctly, unless they agreed that the missed payments would not be recorded.
If you're in a position to clear the arrears, I would do so.0 -

Unfortunately they are correct in their recording of your credit report, you are a month in arrears, I suspect the issue arose because you missed the payment before any payment holiday was implemented (or you could have misunderstood what was agreed). Are you able to pay the missed month to clear the overdue amount?
Ask for a copy of the recording and/or a transcript of the call, also, were you sent any follow up confirmation of a payment holiday? What do they think was agreed vs what you think was agreed?
Finally if money is tight it might well be worth posting a SOA to the DFW board to see what additional funds can be freed up, both to help with the debt and improving the overall financial position.0 -
Thank you everyone. It's £210 but I can't clear it all at once. I will pay extra to clear it off, I just thought they would be more helpful as I was only asking for one month. It hasn't been an issue with anyone else just them0

Have you just spoken to a call handler, or have you submitted a formal written complaint to the company ?
I would recommend you do the latter, at the very least you may get a gesture of goodwill from them.
You must mention the word "complaint" that opens up an entirely new aspect to the situation.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
