Inheritance - pay off the mortgage?

If she is playing the my money game you should have kept the inheritance out of it and just carried the mortgages.
The interest saved is not worth the hassle.

Yeh, she just wants rid of the mortgage. I can't argue with that to be fair - I would / do too - but it doesn't work so well for me. I've never been a "what's yours is ours" kind of person when it comes to money, but if we need something or something needs to be paid for, I'll generally just buy it and not make a fuss, where she'll make sure we know how we're paying for it each. I'm making it sound worse than it is, probably cos it's now a lot of money rather than the not a lot it's previously been0

Let her pay off her own half. Then you continue to be solely responsible in paying the monthly payments of your half of the mortgage that still remains. Keep your ISAs and be overpaying a bit each month on the interest only if you don’t have early repayment charges. Don’t do what you are uncomfortable with regards your own money.Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)
