work from home - claim - self-assessment-what figure to enter

Hello Members -
For the tax year 2020-2021, I am amending my self-assessment form to claim for working from home tax reclaim. I managed to trackdown the box where i should be filling the amount. I am in the 20% tax bracket.

Martin's article points "Tax relief of £6 a week equates to a gain of…"

My question is, "What figure should i be entering in the text box?" is it "6.00" or "62.40"
Other expenses and capital allowances:

Thank you for your help.

  • If you are claiming for one week you enter £6.

    You would never enter £62.40
  • This is for the whole year as i have been working from home the whole time due to covid19. My employer asked us to wfh.

In this case, what will this figure be?

Number of weeks in financial year 2020/2021 = 53 weeks
    So (53 * 6) = £318.00

Is £318.00 the amount tht i should be entering? Thanks
  • For a while year it would be £312.

Or £318 if you want to risk HMRC asking questions.
  • Thank you, I will go with 52 weeks.
