Sunny Payday Loans - Proving a Debt

I took out a Sunny (who no longer exist) payday loan in October 2014 when times were hard. At the end of that year I am certain that I paid the loan off when I came into a sum of money. Since that time I had moved home address several times. Jump forward to January 2021, I have received an email from Lantern Debt Recovery Services informing me that I owe an amount of £248.50. I rang Lantern to inform them that I was under the impression I had paid the amount back in 2014 but due to the time elapsed I do not have any proof of that. Whilst I have moved several times Lantern already had my email address and telephone number but I have never,  in the intervening 6 years, had any communication about this alleged 'debt' and there is no mention of the default on my credit report. I have asked Lantern for evidence of this outstanding sum but they have not provided anything. Can anyone advise about my next steps? It seems unfair that I may have to find 6 year old evidence which I no longer have. Thanks in advance.
