I usually shop in L*dl but have recently swapped to online shopping at Sainsbob's due to having no car and honestly spending a lot less due to not taking up the offers. Those L*dl spending targets really do make you spend more. I'm really going to look closer at the offers. @Cherryfudge that's interesting about the olives. I had started to find the voucher less appealing as they are generally on expensive products these days. Sainsbob's has it's own issues with the nectar prices. I'm going to look at them more closely too. I read that they are often a trick you buy increasing the price a few days earlier them discounting via the nectar price to make it look like you are getting a discount.

Out of freezer: one portion chilli, one portion Thai curry for dinner.
Made Nigella's Christmas morning muffins to use up the last of the Christmas satsumas. I didn't have enough cranberries so I used the end of a packet of sour cherries, double win. Also used some of the box of pearl sugar that I bought for one recipe and have been struggling to get through.
I peeked in the stockpile cupboard, went OH NO, and closed it again. Think I'll keep picking away at the other cupboards, fridge, freezers for now, there's plenty to do.

I looked up the Christmas morning muffins, @oceandreamer: sounds my sort of bake! I still have just a few dried cranberries to use up (which have been around too long) so I might be copying you.
Mind you I didn't know what pearl sugar is and having looked that up too... Oh that would be a nice touch! But better not.
I can't remember which thread was discussing 'shop at home first' but the best time to look in your store cupboard of overwhelm, is when you are going out to the shops and you have a list in front of you. If you can find any of the items in store at home, it's a win/win. Mind you, it takes a bit of time when you might not have it, but it saves time going round the shelves at the supermarket (and getting tempted to other stuff).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. I would lastly like to mention the free W@trose app. I can't afford to shop there and there not one near us. But i absolutely love their free magazine each month one can download. Such amazing recipes. The recipes look good on the food app, but I've finally managed to recycle about a year's worth of supermarket magazines that I never got round to reading... and then I've pinned up two to try from the latest A sda mag... I can always be tempted to more recipes, though.

I'm just wondering whether we could do risotto in the slow cooker. I'm usually the one who makes risotto, spouse prefers cooking that you can walk away from. Hmm I think there's one in the slow cooker book that I could adapt, I shall investigate!6 -
I came across 'shop at home first' long ago via an American site from some former Flylady ladies. They applied it to all sorts, not just food. I think it's @foxgloves who advocates it here, she has a good diary!
Looking up on the web, I can only find a couple of mentions. I used to play a version of it when delivering my daughter's laundry (she's grown and left home now): "Here's a delivery from Next" I would shout, as I brought her clean things to her door.It made it fun, and the idea was to reinforce that clean laundry is a new clothes opportunity.
Sorry - majorly off topic!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Oh, fun fact: alcohol in wine does not cook out in slow cooker, so i do mine while sauteéing veg. A slightly disgusting tasting bolognaise happened the first time i added wine to slow cooker.

Used up some of the xmas turkey today. When I sorted the carcass out I threw some bits in a box with some left over gravy. Got it out of the freezer today added some left over cream and a leek and topped with some frozen pastry. Bit more room made in the freezer! Had it with chips, peas and a couple of bendy carrots.5
