Getting a season ticket refund from Avanti

Hi - Happy New Year. I hope someone can help with some advice.
Back in September, people were returning to the office, and I decided to buy an annual season ticket from London Euston to Milton Keynes Central. I bought the ticket online from the Avanti website.
A few weeks later, I realised that I was not really going in as often as I thought, and in mid-November contacted Avanti by webform to cancel my season ticket and get a refund of the unused balance. I got an automatic reply, telling me to cut up my ticket and provide some other information (where it was purchased etc). This I duly did, and sent them a picture of the cut up season ticket and confirming that I was no longer using it from 30 November.
I have heard absolutely nothing from them aside from this automated response, and getting frustrated that they are not refunding me the £4k+ that I am owed (according to the National Rail season ticket refund calculator).
Any advice for how I can move things along? I did try at Euston station, but they couldn't help me because the ticket wasn't purchased at a station. I did also call the Avanti helpline, but was just told to wait 28 days for a response. That 28 days has now been and gone.
What options do I have - threaten small claims court? Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

How did you pay? If you used a debit or credit card you could speak to your card issuer about a Chargeback.
