Emergency help please

I’m really struggling and need your help please.
due to my mum passing away I have spent a silly amount of money trying to heal my pain. I have now got £1785 left and the following will be coming out of my account tomorrow

mortage.  £1453
stepcgange £318
council tax.  £281
tv licence.    £13.37
union.           £13.17
dvla.             £14.87

I won’t be able to cancel the direct debits/ standing orders now and I just don’t know what to do. I’m not allowed to request credit due to being on Stepchange,

any ideas please?

Speak to Stepchange as you already have a plan with them?

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I guess I’m just going to have to see who gets the money first as I can’t stop the money being taken out of the account in time.

no money for food or anything for the month

Firstly, you don`t need help, just use common sense, do you have another account you can transfer money into ?

If so transfer all but your car tax money, you can pay the mortgage by card payment the next day, the rest will just need reorganisation, to be paid at a later date.

Your stepchange payment is, I assume, for all non priority credit debt, so that can be missed.

Normally I would not advise against paying council tax, but one missed payment can be spread over time.

TV licence, again, can be spread over time, union payment, again, non priority, DVLA is I assume car tax, so that`s a priority.

Can you not cancel them from online banking, mine delete immediately on my app.

There are also foodbanks you can access if you are desperate.
If you don’t have another account to transfer money to, do you have a cash card you can use to get money out before the direct debits go out?

    It needs a fundamental examination.

If stepchange is a debt management plan, ask for 3 months off while you re-evaluate if that is still your best option. (Edit: tell them that's what you're doing)

Then post a statement of affairs for us to look at (link is to a calculator)
