Tax relief on union fees

I'm a member of the British Association of Social Workers which is one of HMRC's recognised professional organisations. I pay an additional fee to be a member of the Social Workers Union. SWU is an organisational member of BASW and I pay the union fees to BASW. Can I claim tax relief on the union fees or do I need to subtract that from my monthly BASW payment?
