Caboodle delete our points

I had 650 points with Caboodle around September, but got the message that there were no free books, try against next month. Early in October I went back to the site and my points had dropped to to 630. Oh well. I did the newest lot of comps, got my points to 650 again, and again no free books. I just thought I'd check the site now, and they've bumped me down to 620 points...
It's not the end of the world, but I think it's a bit sneaky of them.

The free books seem to get snapped up very quickly, I've never got there in time and I'm now back down to 615 points.Bob1 -
On the other hand, I selected a free book months ago but it hasn't arrived and I'm beginning to believe it never will.
I have 905 points currently but this doesn't seem to confer any real benefit to me so I suggest that you chalk it up to experience and stop paying attention to the Caboodle website.
I agree it is disingenuous of them to promise what they won't/can't deliver but think it isn't worth the time and trouble to chase.1 -

The free books are supplied by Bloomsbury Publishing not Caboodle. Did you complain to either Caboodle or Bloomsbury?Bob0 -

This keeps happening to me as well, every time I get enough points, no books and then my points expire. Frustrating!Wins in 2023 - 35
Wins in 2022 - 43
Wins in 2021 - 62
Wins in 2020 - 68
Wins in 2019 - 50 -
Thanks for the information about the free book via Caboodle points. I was happily entering competitions without knowing anything about the points. To anyone else in the same boat, if you activate you Caboodle points account via the email you send you, they give you 75 points.

I have just successfully requested a free book. I increased my 615 points to 915 by registering a Gift Card I obtained some time ago but have not yet used. Apparently, you can get 300 points when registering a Gift Card for the first time.

I contacted Caboodle via Twitter (@book_tokens) and this was their reply:The publisher has allocated a specific amount of books to Caboodlers each month as they're unable to provide unlimited books. If you still have the free £5/€5 e-Gift card we sent you, you can register this under My Cards for an additional 300 Caboodle Points, so you won't need to worry about your Caboodle Points expiring. The Free Books selection will refresh on 1st of month. The free books were snapped up in record time in December. We understand that this can be frustrating. We think a free National Book Token and a Free Book are quite generous - but we do have to put terms and conditions in place. There are currently Free Books available for January - have you tried claiming one? We’ve been made aware of a glitch that continues to say “please come back next month” if you’ve received this message before, which we’ve asked our developers to fix. If you select a book you should be able to continue, if you are at 650.The e-Gifts are sent via email. If you no longer have the email, we can look it up and send it to you.
Thank you for the feedback. It’s appreciated and we will look into this more.
P.S. If you know the user who didn't receive their Free Book, we're happy to ask Bloomsbury to resend, as all books up until 1st January have been sent - so it's likely a postal issue0 -
