Winner Notification

I've been entering competitions for a couple of months now and use this forum for information and guidance. I'm wondering what or how do competition winners get notification from their wins? I've seen on a number of pages phrases such as WEM, which I'm unsure of what it stands for.

Hi @robgoode it depends on how you entered and the information you provided.
Some websites like the daily free lotteries you have to check yourself that day, the prizes and sites are often paid for by the advertising, so they need people to log on daily to be able to provide the prizes and check.
Social media, they will either usually tag you, comment on your comment or private message you, some are naughty and don't bother! But most I've found are usually quite good at letting you know. There are a lot of scammers falsely announcing to people they have won though, so you have to check it is the genuine page that has let you know and you very rarely have to provide ID, unless for obvious reasons like alcohol and they shouldn't ever ask for bank details on a 'prize.'
Most commonly people will receive a winning email (WEM) so check your emails throughly and wade through the spam and newslettersAlways check your spam folder as they often end up in there too!
I regularly check my inbox for things like 'Winner' 'Congrats' and 'Congratulations' you can set up folders for emails containing certain words to automatically go into them, that way you are more likely to see a win when it arrives. (As some companies only allow a small time period to claim your prize.
I've only ever had one company phone me, they had notified me another way too though, but it is always good to answer unknown numbers, just make sure when entering that your phone number is actually required, as often it isn't and sometimes it is only for marketing reasons, which most people don't want bombarding their phones.
I do love a surprise delivery though, I've had quite a few random parcels just turn up in the post, some will have a notes to say where they came from, others you may need to do a little more investigating to find out. Which is why it is good to Tick the green entered button on the forum, once you've entered, then you can search the Game Over section of the forum to see if you had entered for that prize somewhere and help find out where it came from.
Best of luck! Some companies can take quite awhile to announce the winners, so don't be disheartened if you don't hear straight away, just keep an eye out on your inbox, junk mail, phone and parcels
Thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone who enters.6 -

Thanks to you both for the replies, helps a lot to understand a bit more. I assumed WEM was Winners Email but wasn't 100% sure. I've bit the competition bug again having done this a few years ago but gave up after a month. This time I've been doing it over 3 months and even though no wins so far I'll be keeping this up as its not taking too much time out of my day to enter the latest comps. Thanks again!
