Getting FIREd up 😀

Agreed. I'm not averse to working in some small capacity if that helps make things more comfortable, but I really don't fancy carrying on doing what I'm doing forever. It just takes over my whole head. I've worked out that to make 52 happen the average monthly increase to the pot needs to be just over £4k, which doesn't sound outrageously unachievable

In the meantime, I've decided to try and sweat the small stuff a bit more, so today's efforts have included:
- Using various vouchers and cashback to get £35.71 of groceries for £21.92
- Opening a new cash ISA ready to switch into when the rate drops on the Moneybox one at the end of the month (how has it been nearly a year since the big switcharound 🤷♀️?) As a bonus, it's a flexible one, so I'll be putting the two Monzo ones in as well and enjoying having everything in one place for a bit 😀

Just made my first micro-payment into the car payoff fund 🎉! With these £5.64's applied, I'll have the £25k settled in no time 🤣

£25k?! This is why I just ignore the fact we'll ever have to replace our car!

We put a little a side each month which means we will probably buy an older car out right or a newer car and have a larger deposit. Oh for the days where we bought a top of the range ex-demonstrator outright.

Er, yeah 😅! The total price with the interest (and a BIG deposit) was about £45k 😬 I did need to get a newer car to stay within the car allowance rules - I didn't need to go out and order a snazzy new one 🤣

Correction, £44k, I had a screenshot of the credit agreement. So I'm already £1000 better off 😀🤣

Of course, taking things to their logical conclusion re earning interest rather than paying it, I could clear it even earlier than planned 🤔 The new ISA will be paying 4.06% interest, whereas I've been charged 5.9% on the car and I'll get some of that rebated for early repayment. The new ISA being flexible means that I don't have to worry about taking money out, as I can put it back in, and if I total up what I've got set aside for the credit cards, the next instalment of "the other thing", service charge on the flat etc etc, then I do actually have the money to clear it right now. It wouldn't change anything with regard to the commencement of getting FIREd up, as I'd have a HUGE negative balance to repay to the car pot, but it is tempting just to get it done 🤔🤔🤔
I'll need to wait until the ISA transfer has gone through anyway (not likely to be fast, as I need to post them a paper form 🤦♀️), so I think I'll sleep on it until then and see how I feel
