Must have been the excitement of doing a freezer inventory ππ Had a good sort through and rearranged things. There's quite a lot in there:
FRUIT
* 2 bags homegrown blackcurrants
* 2 bags homegrown gooseberries
* 1.5 bags supermarket frozen fruit
* 3 bags stewed apple
VEG
* 1 bag veg mix (cauli etc)
* 1 bag veg mix (peas & carrots etc)
* 1 bag peas
* half bag spinach
* half bag broccoliΒ
BREAD
* 1 put wholemeal pittas
* 2 bread rolls
* half load brown sliced
* garlic & herb flatbread
MEALS
* 3 pasta bake
* 2 curry
* 2 boiled potatoes
* 1.5 cooked rice
* 1 cooked cous cous
OTHER
* quorn roast
* chopped coriander
* 3 lots cheese (from my only other TGTG collection from the local dairy)
Some of the veg has been there for quite a while, so it could probably do with using up at some point. I'd like to make those blackcurrants and gooseberries into jam - perhaps a job for this week. That rice and couscous has been there for a while as well, so I might try to use up and replace soon.
A useful exercise!6 -
You grew your own gooseberries and blackcurrants!Β Yay!Β Enjoy the new season of Call The Midwife, that's great!2023: the year I get to buy a car3

I deleted TGTG after I ended up with octopus salad. Olio is worth it I think more for non food and people being really nice and helpfulΒ3

Tgtg didn't work for me either.Β Only offers from a localI carvery which would be cheap compared to eating there but too expensive compared to buying and cooking food and a cheesery which would have been great but forty minutes each way.Β Β I introduced a friend to it (lived in different area) and she was forever driving four miles each way for the carvery veggies.Β Β So not a good deal.Β It's great if you have a big family or freezer space in some areas thoughΒ2

We see TGTG as a way to have a cheap treat or a cheap lunch out when weβre in London - if you time it right it can work well, but itβs not the best for day to day stuff unless you can get a rare supermarket bag (and donβt have issues with meat turning up!).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! I haven't bothered with TGTG as we have food allergies and I can't see it being a good fit.Fashion on a ration 2025Β 0/66 coupons spent

Glad it's not just me! I think it's a brilliant idea though and really useful in some circumstances π
Lovely day today visiting family. And an unusual (for me) NSD! More booze to add to our growing collection π
Won't be doing anything else useful tonight, but since I've managed to stay vaguely upright all day and drive 4 hours, and hardly blown my nose at all, I'm hoping I'll continue to be on the mend tomorrow.Β
Logged into Prolific - got screened out of a study I shouldn't have been screened out of according to the criteria π Turns out I've got a balance of Β£9.68 in there, so I'm counting that as the start of my January earnings, and I'll leave it in there until the 27th, when I'll withdraw and pay it off the mortgage before the next month's payment π Nice way of getting a little bit of OPing in π10 -
Just popping in with a thought... I'm idly wondering whether it might be nice to have different projects/things to focus on each month as a way of focusing attention and not trying to do everything at once, like I'm usually trying to do...
So January's projects could be something like
Home: move properly into bedroom
Garden: prepare for new chickens
Money: New savings accounts
Health: get 21 meals into the freezer
Or something. So having the bedroom as a focus would mean not getting sidetracked by starting on the bookshelves in the study etc, or trying to do any one of the million other DIY projects, but instead just focusing on rebuilding the bed, hanging the blinds etc, painting the loft hatch etc. That would be SUCH an achievement.
Wondering whether it might feel a bit like debt snowballing π So rather than scattering payments/efforts over lots of little debts/jobs and feeling like now progress is being made, instead focus attention on one at a time?! Well, one inside, one outside etc??
Might just be procrastinating rather than actually doing anything π But I do like to think of things in a different way sometimes and this might make progress visible, rather than having me endlessly chipping away at things without ever finishing them ππ9 -
