Excellent news on the MOT!!
And I'm glad you had a good time in Blackpool. I grew up in Lancaster and I remember being taken to see the Illuminations for a birthday treat (end of October) when I was about 8 or 9 and thinking that they were absolutely magical

That's terrific about your MOT, and a rarity (at least in my experience). Mine is due next month and my car has informed me for a while it has no intention of passing, via a light on the dashboard. Who knew being a grown up would be so expensive?!5

You know to take Martin's advice & take your car to an MOT place only - not to a repairing garage?

It's a year since my car finally passes it's MOT after all the malarky.

Gosh, was that really a year ago Beanie?! Crikey!!
I do keep forgetting about taking it to just a testing place 🙄 However, since we moved we just take it to a little place a couple of miles up the road - it's the only place I can walk to if I need to, and also only takes 10 mins if we end up running in with both cars to drop one off then come home, like we did today. Would be a massive palaver to go any further.3 -
That cafe was basically day light robbery. Those prices are Mandarin Oriental ones and at least there is a waiter and a gorgeous surroundings! I would put a review online about it as I think they deliberately overcharged you.
Good car!!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Daylight robbery indeed! I just looked at the reviews (bit late now 😂😂) and they're definitely styling themselves as a posh beachfront bistro 🙄 Lots of reviews basically saying if your face doesn't fit, you don't get to sit in the posh bit, and service isn't great 🙄😂😂 Clearly our faces didn't fit!
Didn't win anything on the premium bonds 🙄 I did look at the list of big winners though, and someone who bought £35 in 1966 has won £10k (or maybe £5k) so that's cheerful - hope they know they've got them!
Working at home today. No meetings, and hoping to have a slightly more productive day than yesterday!5 -

Ugh to your cafe experience Cheery - I confess that after something similar some years ago we now heartily adhere to the idea that if we need to ask the price we probably can't afford it - so no menu = no custom from us!Glad the trip was OK aside from that though, and hurrah for getting the carpet situation sorted too!
