Morning all, it's wet outside but not as cold, so no builders until the new year now. I was having a lovely lie in when Mr Fix It woke me up shutting the front door, seems he's had an emergency call from Dad about something electrical, so he's taken his meter and gone up ( he left me a note by the kettle )
My shopping duly arrived yesterday with my charming 'babe' driver, plus he smelt lovely too. 3 items OOS and one of them was milk, bit of a strange thing for a sm to run out of, but never mind I ordered 2 sorts and we'll manage as long as there is enough for my morning cup of tea. I'm done with shopping for this year and what we haven't got is just tough, think I over did it (as usual) anyway.
I have a long list of stuff to work through today, I seem to be scrabbling every year even when I promise myself to be organised early 🤔 It's curry making day ( 2 of them ) and I have a small turkey to cook, I must remember to take out all xmas meat to defrost too. I'll try to get ahead today but I can't promise anything, at the moment I cba to move, I can't seem to get myself into gear, any gear 😮
Nels enough cheek from you young lady !! 😁 To be fair I was only up and posting early because the builders were here, why can't they work silently ?
Gers I hope you feel better soon.
taff you made me laugh with your lady and the popcorn tale. Sorry you didn't enjoy it though.
Hope those who have finished work enjoy their time off, hugs to the poorly ones or those caring for someone and anyone in need.
Take care all, stay safe.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13 -
Morning, hugs if you need one, especially those for whom Christmas will be a sad time without their nearest and dearest.
Exceeded ourselves this morning 9.20am before the eyelids lifted.....I had been up earlier to the loo, so a very late start. Beef is out defrosting, so tomorrow will be spent with the backdoor open to let the heat out. We have asked several times for an extractor fan, I am blowed if I am going to pay for one to be fitted myself especially as rumours suggest that we will be getting new kitchens.......I have spent enough of our cash keeping the place up to standard, but when you are presented with a poorly maintained home and continuing shoddy work from council workmen, you loose heart a bit. Our toilet still is not right, one of the screws is loose and its still leaking........so no point putting new flooring down until its sorted.
No plans for today, its a grey day, appears to have rained during the night. I started a set of snowflakes yesterday, came unstuck in the third one, so have to do it again. might manage to do it and the last two later today.
I spend ages looking for some wash away thread to join stabilizer together, could not find it anywhere, ordered a new cop only to find the original one staring me in the face!! Its now in a bag with the wound bobbin and a label on the outside, its also in the new set of drawers by the machine.
Sausage and mash for supper tonight.

Hi everyone,
I've been out and collected the turkey (well a breast and two legs) from the farm shop. It was quite an economical way of doing it as the legs were only £4.50 each. A full turkey would have been far too big for the three of us but we all like a combination of meats and not just the breast. I also got some cranberry and rosemary sausage meat so I will make sausage rolls with that. In addition I bought some skirt (no longer the cheap cut of meat it was) to make a steak and kidney pie for tomorrow, something that Chris loves but doesn't often get to eat because Crystal doesn't like it.
I'm waiting for Steve to finish getting ready so that we can go and get the rest of the bits and I won't have to go out again. Things seem very quiet without Esben buzzing around, not to mention tidier.
I watched sewing bee last night, it was enjoyable but Sarah Pascoe was nowhere near as much fun as a presenter as Joe Lycett. I was very impressed with the bloke who had never sewn before.
NRA, I hope things are OK. Hugs to everyone else who needs one.
Have a good day all.13 -
Coxy - in some areas of Germany mushy red cabbage is the norm, not for me either. This year I used my food processor but won't do that again, it took almost as long and was twice as messy! I'm going to pep it up on Saturday with some red wine, it helps keep the red colour.I've brought more logs in from the big barn and filled the bird feeders. The new woodburner is larger so takes a lot more logs than I'm used to using, however it burns better and seems to leave much less ash behind. The paint fumes are now gone and I'm just left with the sinus reaction. TAFF - I've been taking anti-histamines so may have lessened the effect. Meanwhile, paracetamol is doing it's magic. As Christmas day gets closer I am struggling to keep away from sadness, I am focussing on the happy times at Christmas and there were many of those. Not least last year when the celebrations were rather muted but still enjoyable for my beloved mother. I am determined to not fall into wallowing, there are plenty of people, not least those right here in this board, how have had loss and feel it worse at Christmas. I will focus on 'being grateful'.

Well if I am quick I can truthfully write good morning. Milder, but grey and horrid outside, I don't have to go anywhere until late afternoon for a hair appointment, I don't actually need it as my lovely hairdresser cut it shorter than I had envisaged when explaining it to her and 6 weeks on it is now about right, never mind it will be a treat to be pampered.
Tree has been decorated this morning, cards look nice on the chimney breast and that is all I am doing this year. Had a nice chat with youngest DB, they are all fine, but our post Christmas get together for 15th looks iffy, will chat to the rest of the gang new year, but he and me (reluctantly) feel it is probably too much of a risk, especially as I am on the ECV list (sad face smiley).
Last Christmas no one could visit DM in her nursing home, so this year will not be so different, but it is gradually sinking in that there will never be another Christmas with her, trying to remember the good times and make the most of friends and family that are still physically in my life. I am in the glass half full camp and not going to dwell on the passing thoughts.
Hugs and spoons to all that need them, amongst many others thinking of NRA, Poppy and Dumpling's dear family.
Just seen Blue T*ts and Long Tailed ones in the garden, next task if to put on some less than pristine trousers, shoes etc and paddle around in the mud and top up all the feeders, lawns covered in worm casts!
Drat, just noticed it is now afternoon, take care lovely forum friends. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)13 -
Been to cs to stock up on books in case they have to shut. I started to read a book about the Bloomsbury set last night - finding it hard going.
Still have some presents to wrap.
Day off from SA today.
Tomorrow I will probably be at the SA preparing veg for the Christmas Day meal.
