Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, hope your cold is on the way out.
I was up early this morning, hoping to go and collect the travellers then go and take them for a test. Seems a bit daft as they will have had a test just before they got on the plane but never mind.
Got lots done yesterday and had a coal delivery so at least we can keep warm! Last minute shopping to do before I go to the airport then I'm not going to the shops again, what we haven't go we can do without.
Hope you're all well, take care. XX13 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the thread Gers and hugs to all those in need.
I made parsnip soup yesterday and a loaf of bread, the soup was delicious. The bread was also fairly good but difficult to prove as the boat is so cold. I've run out of shop bought bread and it's a three miles walk to get more. Steve's not keen on home made food and would rather live on beige rubbish. But his current choice is eat home made bread or walk three miles!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.15 -
Morning folks. It's milder again though still pitch black. Perhaps it'll stay mild.Yesterday my trip to Oban was good, the shops were surprisingly quiet. Even M&S was just as normal, perhaps the rush may start today. I called into a neighbour's place for a lovely bacon roll, cup of tea and chat and was home by 11.00. Cupboards and fridge now stocked up for the next week or so.Two of the six others I was with in Glasgow last week have now tested positive for omicron. ☹️ One left us after an hour and the other I sat next to in the restaurant. My LFT yesterday and today are both negative so 🤞🤞for staying clear. It's odd the way the virus works. My cleaner's two children and husband now have it but she's still clear. My cold is progressing into a chesty cough 😷 So far it's loose and not too bad, nothing too disturbing.Today I have a few odd things to sort out. Despite not having sent Christmas cards for umpteen years I still receive lots so I'll get them onto the mantelpiece. My thoughts are with all our poorlies and missing. Happy Thursday to all.14

Morning Gers and all to follow
Up far too early for a day off
but just woke up and there was no getting back to sleep ! never mind got a cup of tea so all is right in my world.
Took mum shopping yesterday and got everything we need I think, Mr T was packed she then wanted to go to M & S which was also packed but I think we have everything we need food wise, I have a click and collect to pick up later this afternoon which is mostly wine and a few little bits.
Today I am going to start the clean I think I will do upstairs this morning and then get the dogs out for a walk and then have a rest for a few hours, I have a streaming cold so trying to fight that off before the big day ! I dont feel bad just very snotty
Not sure about dinner tonight but we have loads in so we wont starve.
Have good days all xxx

Morning folks and thanks GERS for starting us off. I am stuck in a rut with early morning wakenings, dwelling on stuff I can't change. Then left like a damp rag the rest of the day. It gets jading.
We never got above minus 1 all day yesterday but today is forecast to reach 6 deg. The price to pay is drizzle. As I'm not going out I don't suppose it matters! I did the pre-Thursday clean yesterday and today I am bringing forward the Friday Tidy, with a dust and vac up and down and all around. Then tomorrow I can spend the day in sloth mode watching whatever delights the tv channels have to offer. DD calling after work with a couple of bits I forgot to get. I'm not putting her out as she was going anyway for the bits she forgot after her marathon shop the other day.
My DB and SIL are calling at some point either today or tomorrow to swap our presents for our respective DGC. My SIL is very, very cautious of the virus so I won't be surprised if it just ends up a doorstep swap. My DB has been battling health problems throughout the whole pandemic. It's a worry as just as he seems to be on the mend it clobbers him again.
I think a lot of people are of the same mind with Christmas cards this time. I have got far fewer than normal and keep getting messages passed around that so-and-so is donating to charity instead of sending cards.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones or just p***d off. Take care and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"15 -
Morning all, thanks for the thread Gers.
Last day of work for me. I know I need to send some urgent emails first thing on behalf of boss. These will have a message to ‘reply to xxx by 4th Jan’ to set up appointments. I didn’t know about these until 4pm yesterday and I’m now not in until 4th Jan, so already know my first day back will be a busy one. Oh well, 11 days off now and I sure need it.
Glad the SA events could go ahead Florence – such good work.
Fingers crossed you stay negative Gers.
TA – we too have received less cards this year. Even put up cards received from businesses to bulk it out a bit lol
We still have a few fresh bits to buy – will go to Tesco at lunchtime with DH. I made the red cabbage – tastes good but had food processor on wrong setting so it mulched the cabbage rather than sliced it – ooops. Waste not want not, we will still eat it!
Dinner tonight is carbonara – nice and quick and adaptable to however many are eating – often not known until the last minute – teens!
Hugs to all those dealing with poorlies and emotional stresses at this time of year. I hear you, and send strength and love to you all.

Morning all. We went to a 4dx showing last night and if you value the contents of your stomach, don't bother with one of those. It took three hours for my insides to stop shaking. I watched the person a couple of rows down throw her popcorn allover herself because she wasn't expecting to be shaken around so much and I spent more time concentrating on not weeing myself, because every time the chair moved around it was banging my bladder...Never again. we went to that one because OHs friend had booked tickets , except for me but that's another story, and I don't think I'll forgive him for a while.I need two more presents, one for OHs mum, one for my cousin and I haven't got a scooby what to get them and I have only local shops to shop from [or relatively locally] but I doubt they'd want anything from the middle of Lidl, so I'd better come up with a good plan by nine o clock.Gers, hope the cold hurries up and goes, is it still to do with fumes? Would loratadine help? Ruby hope yours goes quickly too. Squashy hugs to those that need them...Have a day of good stuff if you can.....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi14

Morning
Murky again here but doesn't feel especially cold.
Had an awful nights sleep in fact sleep didn't really happen at all. Like you TA my brain insists on reminding me of the things i should be miraculously sorting but physically and mentally can't. I started to use a sleep hypnosis piece on alexa which normally does the job but last night it didn't go near.
I suspect part of my restlessness was that my terrorists were coming round today and whilst I enjoy their visits I know its going to be painful
Anyway they called this morning and cancelled till next week so I needn't have stressed.
When they called to arrange it I rapidly shoved up some token decorations otherwise they would give me earache. So I have a lit up snowman and one of those LED table top trees. Still pretty sparse but its all I could get to in the garage.
My cards are still in a pile on the mantlepiece so whether they are put up is debatable. One of the cards included the dreaded round up of the year letter. Yawn...but did give me a giggle reading the massive successes of their offspring and how well all of them were doing at work. Wouldn't mind but I haven't seen them since 1991 in fact met them on holiday and get "the letter" every year since. Sorry if you are one of the letter writers everyone hates enjoys
Remember me really needing to do some paperwork for my accountant will unsurprisingly its still waiting so if I can keep my eyes open long enough Ill make a start today.
Grub will be liver or sausage casserole depending which fall out the freezer first
Have a good day all

Morning all- I didn't get on yesterday and still haven't finished catching up with posts yet so hope all is well.Yesterday was a bit of a busy day trying to hide the last of the DGC presents before they came, which was earlier than expected as DGD didn't go to school. The head said it was up to the parents as they have a few cases, including DGD's teacher who was leaving , so the kids didnt get chance to say bye and apparently they were all crying when they were told
but she said to tell them she will visit them. DGS also finished an hour earlier so I went with DS and DGD to pick him up, came back here and we all had tea which was nice. Afterwards they wanted to paint, & then later we went out down the steps at the front through the woods - short cut to a road which has a house with lots of lights and festive cheer to raise money for Help for heroes. It was lovely and we left our donation in their post box- once we'd found out where to post it
After we'd got warm they played a board game until it was time for them to go home. Much more relaxed than the rushed after school visits.
I've got some hm chicken soup out for our lunch, had it yesterday too, trying to make room in the freezers for some bread . The milkman delivered our C day milk this morning so currently 5 2 litre glass bottles in the fridge
Still some cleaning & tidying but DH is off today, and the foam finally arrived to booster the sofa seats so we'll do that too. Have a good day everyone
