Is it possible to hand in notice over Christmas office shutdown?

Hi all,
My current employer closes the company on Christmas eve for the holiday period, reopening on 4th January. We have to use our annual leave for the days which aren't considered bank holidays during this time, so 24th, 29th, 30th, 31st will come out of annual leave.
I potentially may be getting a job offer on Christmas Eve, right at the start of our office closure. I've informed the potential new employer that I have a 4 week notice period and their company is open throughout the Christmas period.
Would I be able to hand in my notice whilst the office is closed? I'm more than willing to be flexible at my current job to help out, it's just that the closure of the office for 12 days means I would be closer to 6 weeks notice if I hand in my notice when the office reopens on the 4th.
Thanks

Yes just email it to your boss/HR/whoever you would email such things to.
Look after number 1 and if that means leaving a job at Xmas for a new job then so be it.1 -
Thanks! It's a double edged sword as I know the holiday break would eat into my notice period for them but at the same time, I wouldn't want to leave them waiting and throw it on them on the first day back!0

If you get the offer Christmas Eve, even if your new employer is open over Christmas, would you still get your draft contract in between Christmas and New Year, or would it later? If you do and is acceptable, just send an email of to your manager and HR. Remember notice doesn't start until the day after it is given.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
