in Cutting tax
My personal PTA states that they still haven't finalized my account for the previous tax year. This is nearly 9 months after the end and I have simple income ie. SP, Company Pension and B&BS accounts. Any reason why this year is taking so long apart from the obvious working from home Covid changes?

Have you calculate what the end result should be - refund, tax bill or nothing either way?0

Similar situation in our household - repayment due from 2020/21 due to finishing employment earlier in that year yet PTA shows "not yet calculated".
Did at one time say should be completed by "end of October" but that dissapeared !
Not that it's relevant but the coding notice for the current year has an adjustment for a suggested underpayment last year.

There won't be much in it. Perhaps I'll owe them a bit. But usually by now the code would have been adjusted and monies owed taken in remaining months and 22/23 code based on that too. I'm not worried just interested why the delay?Dazed_and_C0nfused said:Have you calculate what the end result should be - refund, tax bill or nothing either way?0 -
Staff shortage due to the virus. Many have been moved on to work on the covid grants and furlough.0

I had been slightly concerned by the amount of time it was taking HMRC to do the 2020-21 calculations, thinking that perhaps there was a problem and we were being investigated.
But logged on today and it has been done ( either today or last week ) and both have a small rebate to claim so happy days !!!
So don't despair it would appear that HMRC are getting through them.1
