any downsides to free solar panels from ‘energy switch’

    I am pretty sure the LAD2 scheme is legitimate. The solar panels are paid for by the government and I will own them outright. I am worried they will damage my roof though.
    A competent installer will not damage your roof. They surveyor will (or should) have seen enough of the roof to know that it's suitable for solar panels. There are a dozen or more of us here on this forum with rooftop solar panels, with roofs of varying ages and designs, and I don't think anyone has suffered damage as a result.

    Yeah exactly as QrizB says, in fact I've never heard of any body having their roof damaged.
    I mean I've seen sensationalist articles in newspapers, but never heard or seen any directly.

    Any issues with your roof should be highlighted during the survey
