52 ideas please

Options
So me and my husband seem to be falling into the housemate phase.

We have been together 19 years (20 this September) and we don’t really have much in common or so much anymore together.

Not helped by the fact I have agoraphobia and anxiety so it makes things hard for me.

But I really want us to connect together and spend more time together etc so I am thinking of making a jar with 52 things we can do together. So that one day a week, on his day off, we can spend quality time together.

I’m hoping to find some free ideas and relatively cheap ideas but little things we can do together.

Ive already got making meals together, movie nights, going for walks, early nights together, few nights away etc.

Any other suggestions?
Time to find me again

Picnic in a park or countryside?
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • Geo-caching is quite good fun.

Don't know how easy it is to travel about, but worth having a look for local National trust properties/ country parks etc. There's one not far from me that's well known for its snowdrop collection for example. Museums, Art galleries are often free entry.
Trip for a paddle in river/sea/outdoor pool in the summer.
  • You could buy a small amount of air drying clay and make clay pots or mugs together.  You can paint them using acrylic paints that you can pick up relatively low cost from The Works or similar.

You say you don't have much in common now.  What did you have in common at the beginning?  Something must have draw you together.

That is what you need to rekindle.

You would need to have things you are both interested in . He is  not going to want to  go ballroom dancing of he detests dancing.

You are not going to want to go to a football match of you hate football.

I would think that wanting to decide on 52 things to do together to bring you closer together would be something that you'd want to do together rather than presenting him with a fait accompli of your and strangers' ideas.

Apologies if he is already on board with this and you are both struggling with ideas.

I know it's not answering your question but...have you talked about why you might have drifted apart?
I think if it was my relationship and my partner presented me with a jar of 52 things to do together because we've drifted apart, I'd feel that it just emphasised how much we've drifted apart because he didn't involve me in the planning.
That's just me though, maybe he'll be thrilled at the thought and effort you've put in.

  • Sounds like you're looking for a year of dates. Coincidentally there's a website called ayearofdates that provides exactly what you're looking for.

I have no association or connection to this site, it came up in a SM timeline last year.

I bought this for my Husband for Christmas, only a few weeks in and trying to fit them in is difficult with having a family, working studying etc.

But, we like it; it makes us try things we wouldn't have otherwise considered and they are adaptable to suit individuals budgets.

So far we have flown a kite, been bowling, we have a tech free night coming up. We're meant to be going to bingo but neither of us fancy that so think we'll just hold off on  that one for the time being
