NHS dental charge question.

I'm receiving NHS dental treatment and need upper and lower dentures. My dentist was keen to fit lower dentures, but when I suggested having upper dentures fitted at the same time because i need both and to save cost to myself, she wasn't so keen.
Is it possible to have upper and lower dentures fitted and the same time for a single band 3 charge? - now £282.
I understand that the dentist probably doesn't get much for the procedure, but I have limited funds.

It is possible, but has to be 'clinically necessary'. If it isn't, then the dentist is not obliged to do one.

It was everybody deciding to get dentures that forced the need for NHS dental charges back in about 1949. To quell the demand!

    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
