I've received my final bill from Avro and something doesn't seem right

I've received my final bill from Avro and something doesn't seem right.

It's a bill for a seven day period.

It seems to include a massive amount of electricity usage (2026.9 kWh) but barely any gas usage (1.1 kWh).

I've emailed Octopus asking if they can look into it for me, I was just wondering if anyone has been in this situation?

The credit I had with Avro covers the final bill (just).

I had been manually adding my meter readings every month in my Avro account up until their collapse and I sent Octopus the readings when they requested them so I'm not sure why anything has been estimated.

I have a photo of my meter and the readings on the day Avro collapsed.

Are the estimated (E) readings for 19th September - 7397.1 for electricity, 1791.9 for gas - the same as the ones used on the previous Avro bill?
How do the final (F) readings given for the 26th of September - 9424 for electricity, 1792 for gas - compare to the readings you've been submitting to Avro and Octopus?

I'm not sure why it's estimated as I was manually inputting the readings every month directly from my smart meter, I'm guessing that something has gone wrong.

Can I access my previous meter submissions or are they gone?

I honestly can't answer that, I'm not an ex-Avro customer. Are you able to log into your on-line account still? If not, do you have records of your own? Amnd for the readings you've given Octopus?
It seems possible that (for unknown reasons) Avro were not consistently using your submitted readings but were estimating. This could explain the big difference between their estimated electricity reading on the 19th and the final on the 26th. The August bill you've shared does show they used not-estimated (customer?) readings for gas in July, so that goes some way towards explaining why their gas estimate for the 19th is so much closer to the final reading.
What is your electricity meter reading today? Is it consistent with it having been 9424 on the 26th of September? If so, you're much better paying for those units at Avro's rates than you are trying to pay for them at Octopus's.

  • For some reason right now my smart meter isn't letting me view the electricity usage or reading, I can view the gas information just fine, it does this often and then a few days later it sorts itself out and lets me view the electricity info.

I assume you are talking about the In-Home Device (IHD) not the smart meter.
Even if you cannot see the electricity details on the little screen you have inside the house, you can still go to the actual smart meter and check the reading on there.
When the IHD drops a connection like that you can often just turn it off, wait a min or two and then turn it on again to reconnect.

If you used 1.1 KWh of gas that's 0.0097 units on the meter the charge for gas usage should be zero, just the standing charge, as mine was.
At my rate that's £302.21 for electric. What does the IHD figure say against the figures on the bill?

Someone please tell me what money is
