Dear All

I'll be starting a new job in London very soon. The job requires me to work in office for 3/4 days. Currently I live in Salisbury. To cut my journey shorter I plan to stay in Reading for 3 days. What's the best way to purchase the train tickets?

Let's say if I buy annual train tickets from Salisbury to London terminal (including Waterloo and Paddington). Can I use the seasonal ticket to travel from Reading to London during my stay in Reading?

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Firstly, a "seasonal" ticket would be one for the Christmas season! I think that you are enquiring about SEASON tickets.

Secondly, look at the T and Cs for your season ticket to see what they say about "break of journey". If you are allowed to break your journey, and if the ticket allows you to use the fast trains between Reading and Paddington then you are good to go.

Called western train customer service. They said it's fine although the 'broken journey term&condition' is confusing with 'may'.

You are allowed to break your journey at any (and every) station when using a Season Ticket.
You could if you wish explore the environs of every station on your route.

Whast you need to be sure of is whether a Salisbury to London season ticket is valid to trsvel via Reading.  If so you can break your journey where you wish as Voyager says.
I supect that  it may only be possible to travel via Woking on the SW mainline.

    Thanks!

SW offers a type of season ticket from 'Salisbury' to 'London Terminals' which includes Paddington and Waterloo. The changeover at Basingstoke would make a detour through Reading then Paddington.
