Any teachers able to help here. Trying to work out the hit I would take if I wanted to retire and take my pension at 58. I currently have 14 years service under the Final Salary Scheme (Pensionable age 60) and would have a further 14 years under the Average Salary Scheme (Pensionable at 67) I understand that I have to take…

Are you considering giving up work completely? Working while retired (especialy in a familiar job) seems to make people more satisfied. Might not apply to you specifically but studies show it does in general.

Phased retirement might be worth considering so you claim some pension while still building up more as you gradually adjust to full-time retirement.
