I haven't been able to get any marzipan for a couple of weeks, I went to a different supermarket yesterday and today and it's the same story - shelves empty of marzipan, have I missed something? The Tesco delivery driver informed me there was a shortage. Has anyone else had problems getting any?
(Sorry if this has already been mentioned, couldn't see it when I searched)

I make my own marzipan like my grandma taught me. Here's my recipe in case you can't find any:
450g Ground Almonds
225g Icing Sugar
225g Castor Sugar
2 Eggs
1 tbsp Lemon juice
1 tsp Almond Essence
Whisk eggs, almond essence and lemon juice. Stir in the sugars and almonds.
form the mixture into a ball with your hands, Knead well to a "marzipan smoothness. Wrap in grease-proof paper and refrigerate until needed.

You can buy it from supercook on-line !
free delivery over £15 I thinkOnly two big facts are known for certain: you are on a large, spinning rock hurtling through lonely space at about 67,000 mph, and one day your body is going to die. Will a new pair of shoes really help?

Economical Marzipan
8 oz icing sugar, 2 0z each caster sugar and ground almonds
1 tsp. golden syrup, 2 drops almond essence, 1 egg white
Put everything into a bowl and mix together. Knead until smooth. Keep wrapped and chilled if you are not going to use straightaway0 -
I got mine from Tesco last month, but i did notice they only had the ready rolled stuff which i had to settle on.0

I could only get the golden marzipan from Tesco last week-they didn't have the white but I thought it was just our branch of Tesco being their usual incompetent selves. They are always running out of things.0

I eventually managed to get some in Sainsbury's after forgetting to buy some extra when I iced the cake for sending out portions after my daughters wedding. Tried Asda, and Tesco. The usual disaster for both stores if you leave it too late.:o0
