Hi,
My daughter legally inherited her grandmother's house in November 2020,and due to the rental income it now puts her over the tax threshold. My question is, does she need to file a self assessment now or not until January 2023.

She needs to register for self assessment. If she started to receive rental income before 5th April 2021, a return has to be filed for 2020/21 tax year by 31st January 2022 - in six weeks. If after that, a return for 2021/22 must be filed by 31 January 2023.
