Hiring a Licensed House

We've recently got engaged and neither myself or my partner have any interest in a large wedding and cannot reconcile spending stupid money on a wedding. We have an absolubte maximum of 30 people we'd want there and to be honest could easily cut that to 20.
Instead, I've been looking at hiring a large property with grounds that's licensed for a wedding (for a weekend it seems to be £2.5k ish). Obviously I know there's there's caterers, decorations and DJ/band to factor in but we'll definitely be positioning this as a 'party' not a 'wedding'.
Just wondered if anyone ever hired a property and done a wedding this way? I'm imagining alot of stress unless I hire a co-ordinator for the day but also means we get our small intimate wedding, can do all the decorating in advance ourselves and potentially can do it quite a bit cheaper

Sounds lovely!! We had hoped to do that but it fell through as the venue couldn’t get to grips with the changing covid restrictions. We got married at a hotel and it was easier in the sense that someone was paid to make it go smoothly. Your mileage will vary though! When are you planning to get married?MFW 2021 #76 £5,145
MFW 2022 #27 £5,300
MFW 2023 #27 £2,000
MFW 2024 #27 £6,055

Don't underestimate how much time researching, ordering and coordinating everything will take, never mind the stress.
Also, the time it will take to decorate then place when you are preparing for your wedding day.
You will need to decorate the day before. What about clearing up afterwards? You may need more than 'a weekend'.
You could just get married with the minimum witnesses/ family and have an evening party afterwards.

We took over a hotel for one of my daughters weddings. The hotel was closed to all others. Instead of an all in price we paid for the bedrooms on a bed and breakfast rate for the full weekend, had food off their normal menus, paid corkage on the wines we supplied and we supplied the decorations for the tables. We did supply some flowers but the hotel supplied most of them. We had a dj and disco at night. There was between 30 and 40 people. It was an excellent day and the hotel staff really helped make it so.0
