Today's little by little... will not sound very MSE
. Raided two supermarkets for easy/ prepped meals as I'm busy the next week or so. Not the cheapest option but cheaper, healthier and more organised than takeaway.
Added a YNAB line for repaying the store loan for stuff for the house. And realised I do need to do my tax return asap as that would hopefully cover about half of it.Picked up some paint sample pots. Need to do a bit of homework on quality but tbh thinking I will just go for the cheaper end of the scale - I just don't think I can justify stretching to the expensive stuff that some people are recommending.Debt free May 2016... I received notice of my council tax yesterday so you may get yours this week too.

Little things today...
- Cancelled Netfl!x. Haven't been watching it, so absolutely not worth a tenner a month and will just restart it if there's something I want. Fortunately spotted it before the renewal date so no charge this month.
- Chased up the vet again, by email this time. Getting quite peeved at this since all they need to do is forward the form and they owe me a couple of hundred quid.
- Think I might - finally - have found a paint colour I want for the living room and fortunately it is one of the standard ranges not a F&B etc!

I recently used some Wilko paint for a couple of jobs and was really surprised at the quality - well I liked it anyway, maybe a pro decorator would say otherwise. This was just some white emulsion touch ups but I'd deff use it again.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

One more little thing - annoyed to find the dog's insurance went up and my insurer won't allow cashback on renewals... so got onto the comparison sites and have (hopefully) got £80 cashback on a policy for about the same amount. That takes the equivalent cost down by £6 a month and if we don't need to claim, I can shift again at the end of the year.Glad I spotted the email in time as I had flagged it but not got round to checking.Debt free May 2016... I don't find ours is great for DIY stuff (I'm more often found at Toolstation) and we have a great independent paint supplier but I happened to have some vouchers to use so grabbed the paint in Wilko (I'm not sure the independent supplier would have approved or even sold that white emulsion that starts off pink so you can see where you've painted)

This is going to sound really, really sad but Wilk0s are one of the few things I miss about moving north of the border - there aren't any up here, and they were always my first stop for decorating and DIY stuff
Oh wow, I'd never noticed that in all of the years I've been married to a 'North of the Borderman' and been up and down visiting family.

Actually I've just checked and it turns out there are a few... just not near me - bit like Wa!trosewhich is also a terrible thing to admit missing, but for kind of opposite reasons
. I guess I'll do the same for both and keep a look out when I'm travelling anywhere that might have one.
I found their paint was ok, but admittedly I wasn't really experimenting much. I just went with whatever I could get to relatively easily, which meant W1lkos, B&Kew and a W1ckes Extra for anything else. I learnt to avoid H0mebase as none of their staff appeared to know any more than me!

Hmm, running low on things to chase! I think there will be some work to do on sorting small things later in the month.Hung out washing today but not very successfully - too late in the day and it's not been very warm. So have put another load on the timer, so it can go out tomorrow morning. A second load today is hung up and on radiators rather than going in the dryer. I'm switching lights off as I move rooms, even in the hallway.Checked through motoring costs after seeing all the talk about fuel prices. I already drive very little these days (usually once a week for an evening shop and one day out at the weekend), and will hopefully be continuing to work mostly from home, so not much I can do there apart from keep tyres topped up and reduce weight. That means I need to sort out getting the bags of donations off to a charity shop instead of being carried around in my boot. I will also try and keep the car 1/2 to 2/3 full rather than filling right up every time - I was trying to minimise trips, but it's not such an issue now that there's sanitiser etc at most fuel stations, no buying panic for now, and it doesn't require going indoors.Already chased the vet again and hopefully that will move forward on Monday.Debt free May 2016... The thing about not filling up full Rosa is the speed the petrol is going up, literally a penny a day over several days round here atm.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
