Spending on American Express card before completion

Hi All
Just wanted some advice please, we are due to exchange contracts soon and complete before end December
Me and my husband have a joint American Express card it’s essentially a charge card so whatever we spend we pay the balance end of month full balance without a fail
we don’t pay parts of the balance or leave it for however long the point of the card is to spend and pay the balance end of month (collect Amex points which is why we prefer using American Express)
does spending on the card affect the credit checking before closing?
at the end of the month all balance is cleared - we spend it on groceries , petrol , personal purchases etc just how I guess what People would use a credit card on
thanks x

Short term debt and the ratio of spend vs available credit is a factor, but not the only factor and it’s one month, so I don’t think you should worry.

Thank you! I wasn’t too sure if you would need to stop during this period, we’ve been using it as same at the time we went through the application process, we don’t have any debt left each month as it’s all paid off just had a thought incase we need to stop etc etc thank you!lisyloo said:Short term debt and the ratio of spend vs available credit is a factor, but not the only factor and it’s one month, so I don’t think you should worry.0 -
But so not say it will be cleared for completion otherwise you will have to do so. Which may be before you expected to pay it.

No expert but from my resent experience it does affect how much you can lend. Using Barclays mortgage calculator this week it calculated I just fell short of target borrowing, however if I cleared two credit cards (one of them American Express) debit of just over 1.5K, they could lend £7000 more. Alternatively it said I could also increase the term to meet requirements.0

Cant see it making any difference if you are using your card for ordinary living expenses.
Going out and spending 10s of K would be a different matter, but not on the items you normally spend1
