Is it worth asking your lease company for a quote to buy the car from them, if you're happy to keep it? Could be more cost-effective in the long runMortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Yep, that's a great suggestion. We tried to ask them that a few months ago, but they couldn't give us a quote for anything (extending or buying) until 3 months before our lease expires. So we have to phone them back in a couple of weeks. Very "interested" (apprehensive) to see what they'll quote us, because everything I read suggests electric cars are very in-demand right now - and second-hand ones especially soSouth_coast said:Is it worth asking your lease company for a quote to buy the car from them, if you're happy to keep it? No car update yet, but today I sold some old shelves on FB marketplace, which means I've added £10 to my "piggybank".
I kind of wish it was an actual piggybank but it's just what I've called my online easy-access saver, where I squirrel away all the "extra" money that comes my way from stuff like cashback, swagbucks points, decluttering etc. And then every time it gets up to £50 I chuck it on the mortgage. I'm up to £32.15 now so maybe next month we'll get up to the £50 mark, fingers crossed!
I've got a few more bits up for sale at the minute, so hopefully someone will want them and I'll be able to top up the piggybank a bit more
Every little helps, as they say!

Well done on the new money. Is there any reason you don't immediately pay it off? It has more impact the sooner you do.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
