Cheap rail travel to London by train

Looking for advice on bargain train travel to London (from Derbyshire / Nottinghamshire / Staffordshire)  I already have a Railcard and can be very flexible on the date. Want to a real bargain day out.

East Midlands trains from Derby or Nottingham appear to have the cheapest advance fares to London, avoid the peak departures before 0800 or between 1700 and 1900 on the return. There may be cheaper but I found advance fares in Februrayfor £14.15 each way

Stafford to Euston return on 21 Feb is £10.50.  
Stoke-on Trent is £12.80 return.
