Any loans that are late (have missed payments), but have not been formally defaulted are being bought off of you by Zopa at full face value including any missed interest payments, so you're getting a good deal on those.
Any loans that have already defaulted, or default before you're repayed, will be taken over by Zopa for zero cost. Zopa will be entitled to any future recoveries, so you're getting a bad deal on those. Note that any that have already defaulted will have already been removed from your portfolio valuation (I.e. valued at £0.00).
Zopa say the above two conditions will cancel each other out, resulting in you getting a fair deal. They say they've been discussing this with the FCA, so presumably the FCA are in agreement.
For giving my money back they say 'For customers who registered their bank account with us before 2018 we need to re-add your details so that we can validate them.... confirm that the bank account you withdraw to really belongs to you.'
Could I block off some of this info? Or I see my third page has the information name, date, sort code, account number and generic Info about the financial Services Compensation Scheme but no transactions, would that do I wonder?
i had significant money with ZOPA and suggested it to other people, but lost confidence as they began to “improve” things to the point my bad debt was increasing, they were lending my money out at stupidly low rates, then charging me when I wanted to sell because the rates were too low!
Anyway, I have had two spats with them over these demands for more information. I refused to give more, telling them to simply return the money to the account they were happy to accept the money from in the first instance.
The second spat ended with me instructing them to pay the £18.17p back to the account it came from, the same account they had paid money to some months ago, or I would start small claims court proceedings. They sent the money.
My suspicion is the 2 layer security and the revalidate your bank details is simply to dissuade people from getting a few quid back. But I am a cynic!
It held such promise, and the 'get togethers & meet the founders' events were interesting.
