This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, and air feels cold, and rain forecast for the coming days. Blustery wind forecast again for today.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/rice/veg - very easy as need something on a Monday that I can not think about and just shove in the oven. Tonight will be braised pork loins, mash, veg, LO yorkshires and gravy.
Yesterday work wasn't too bad - quite expecting a text or call from a boss as colleague who should be working was sick (yet again!) yesterday so I'm expecting they will ask me to go in early to cover.. Don't want to sound negative but it gets a bit much when its regular by the same people. Hopefully other than that it'll be a reasonable day.
Keep safe and well x

            Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, I have a colleague like that - she seems to catch every illness going.
It's a bit blustery this morning but worse to come according to the forecast for today. Hoping everyone stays safe.
I took two bags to the charity shop yesterday, they had been in the hall so long it looks very empty now! Lots more sorting to do but will probably wait until after the holidays now. My plan is to move into the front bedroom at some point but there's decorating to do first. That could be my new year job!
The tree is up, a bit big once again but looks very festive and smells lovely. The little one enjoyed seeing it - asked DD to help her put her bauble on the tree with a warning 'be careful, it's glass'. Of course DD let her hold it and she dropped it. There's another one on the way!
Hoping everyone's well, have a good day if you can. Take care.XX12

            Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
I was able to meet up with the boater who wanted the spell jar, she's had the most dreadful cold and I didn't want to catch it. She was delighted with the jar. We shared a cuppa and some mince pies.
Dog walks and housework are planned for today.
 Have a good day everyone.
 Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.12

Hi everyone, Thanks for starting us off nmlc. I too have worked with people who ‘have a bit of a throat….’ or other such minor ailments, where the rest of us just get on with it – frustrating! Camelot – that it typical about the bauble! Hester – spell jar? Is that the fellow boater with the bully of a husband? What is she planning? Ruby – I didn’t get around to wrapping anything either! My headache and nausea took until mid-afternoon to shift. I did manage to get out at lunchtime to the post office. Bought stamps for our few cards and also posted cards on behalf of DDad. The fresh air didn’t do the trick and had to take myself off and lie on the sofa for an hour as the glare from my screen was making it worse. Dinner was lo roast chicken in sweet and sour sauce (jar) and noodles. Nice and quick. Spoke to DDad from his hospital bed last night. He’s very deaf and didn’t have his hearing aid in, so a lot of ‘hello, it’s me’ before we had a semi-decent conversation. I didn’t sleep a wink last night and feel absolutely shattered this morning. Will need a lot of tea to keep me going. Not sure when I will hear news about how the op went, but will probably be mid-afternoon at the earliest. Have a good day everyone, Coxy

            Morning everyone
Frosty here this morning and meant to get really windy again this afternoon.
I'm going into town this morning to get my hair cut and I'll get the last few vouchers and bits I need for presents - then I can get the wrapping finished. I'll get my tree and other bits out at the end of the week ready for little one coming at the weekend.
Hester - nice you could meet up for a cuppa.
Nmlc - yes I have a colleague like that too!
Camelot - I had two big bags for the charity shop sitting on the spare bed for so long it looked bare without them - managed to get them away last week
Need to do some banking before I go out so I hope everyone has a good day x13

Morning folks. Today there is some mistletoe, though it comes with a government warning! 😘After my cleaner left yesterday I lapsed into inertia once again. The dentist had phoned again to offer me an hygienist appointment for today, just when Storm Barra is due and there's a yellow weather warning out. I declined. As for today, I don't know. There's a big cardboard box to cut up which I'll enjoy doing. My thoughts are with the family' here with special good vibes for Coxy's beloved Dad. I hope that everyone is safe and warm. Morning. Up and at 'em already, showered, not dressed, drinking tea. Going to drop my car off to [hopefully!] be fixed today, and I have to hurry back for the rubbish people who are going to collect after a few Whatsapps back and fore...how modern...I did clear quite a bit of stuff hanging round the passageway and living room yesterday, but there's still a lot to do. With no sotrage it's a bit like playing chess..Gers, I totally intended to follow the recipe but after i realised I'd taken pork out instead of beef mince, I changed it. I made some tiny meatballs and added garlic and fennel to them, made a sauce with a jar of fajita sauce, an onion and a container of homemade passata, and layered those up with mozarella and the tortillas spread with refried beans. It was lovely, luckily. And some for tonight [and probably tomorrow]. I made a a banana loaf as well since the oven was on. Going to finish my parcels to post those later on too. And that's my day done with.Coxy, hope all goes well for your dad. Gers, I laughed at your governement warning mistletoe camelot, that's why I love a real tree, the smell...TA, I'm sure they'll be happy with pizza and chips...Bolognese bakes are only for Thursdays aren't they?:) Wrap up today and avoid the storm if you can....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12 camelot, that's why I love a real tree, the smell...TA, I'm sure they'll be happy with pizza and chips...Bolognese bakes are only for Thursdays aren't they?:) Wrap up today and avoid the storm if you can....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I think we have all worked with people like that over the years!
The girls have now been despatched to school so enjoying a little bit of peace. They are no bother at all these days (they had their moments when they were younger!) all I have to do is make sure they are out of bed and make them breakfast. No complaints about lack of Bolognese Bake for tea and pizza was all eaten and enjoyed. They are here again next Monday to sleep over and the BB has been promised this time.
My shopping was delivered early yesterday but no problem with that. A couple of acceptable subs and nothing out of stock. I have been undecided as to whether to book a Christmas slot or go wild in the aisles myself. Considering I shall be at DD;s most of the time with no -one coming here I won't need a big shop anyway. As usual I shall be cooking the meats here for Christmas lunch and then taking with me to DDs
It's my usual Tuesday coffee then lunch day. The storm has yet to arrive here but is on its way over Ireland as I speak. I shall set off well wrapped up and be prepared for it.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones, convalescing and bereaved. COXY you and your dad are in my thoughts. Take care one and all and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13

morning, hugs if you need one.
Its another dark morning, the snow is just north of us, it needn't bother, I have no wish to be snowed in. I also need to visit the PO, need cash and stamps for cards we cannot deliver by hand.
No plans for today, except keep warm. I need to finish up writing the cards and get them ready for posting.
I ordered a Samsung tablet almost 4 weeks ago, after 2 weeks I contacted the company and voiced my concerns, they told me that it had left them and would be on its way. I checked the tracking number everyday only to be told that they had not got the parcel and to try again tomorrow. Yesterday I received a message from Royal Mail to say that the tracking number had been changed and it would be delivered today........which makes me think that the original parcel magically disappeared. It will be interesting to see what is in the parcel when it does arrive 'sometime today'!!
Casserole with veg and the last of the raspberries in jelly for supper tonight. I need to do a freezer audit and see just what is in the freezers. I have not bought any meat for ages, still using up the order from The Fat Butcher. I have to say their meat is excellent.12

Morning all,Best wishes for Coxys Dad's op & recovery.Weather calm here but for how long I don't know. I want to do a bit more shopping, presents and some more tree lights, bus in 20 mins but will ask DS to pick me up after.Had a nice visit from SisIL and her DGS yesterday, lovely to see him- he's nearly 3 now and only seen him a handful of times. I had a really good tidy, and got the menfolk on the job too- the hall has been cleared of their 'project' so that also looks bare Better get ready- stay safe today folks x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
