Amazon delivered empty envelope, customer service can't/won't help

Hello MSE-ers, today I've had an empty, sealed, envelope from Amazon. I never order from Amazon, however it was my birthday recently so I think a friend (but I don't know who) may have sent me something. I've tried customer service webchat but they say they can't do anything without an order number which is on the order slip - which I don't have because the envelope was totally empty. I said I can give them the name and address on the envelope, the various codes on the envelope, even the exact time of delivery - but apparently that's no good. And because I don't know who sent it, I can't inform anyone and ask them to look into it from the 'sender' end either.

Has this happened to anyone else? Or does anyone have any advice on penetrating the depths of Amazon's customer service to reach someone who can actually help?

Your going to have to reach out to your friends and ask them... Just say "Thanks for the empty Amazon Envelope"
