Wrong wood flooring sent!? Help?

Options
Hello- spent over £6,000 pounds on wood for floors / new house. When we ordered more it came to light that they had not sent us the wood we had originally picked and paid for. They have suggested that our joiner should have noticed but we had just left this wood in the property for him to fit. They offered £400 in compensation- unsatisfactory. We contacted CA but they could not advise what we would be entitled too. Can anyone advise please? We are devastated.

£400 is a decent enough result, given the situation. You should have rejected it if it was not the correct product, not fitted it.

You could theoretically uninstall it and return it, but they'll deduct a huge amount for usage.

If the wood you received was cheaper than the one you ordered, you should of course also get the difference in price back.

You say you just left the wood in the property for him to fit.  Did you not check it was correct at the time of leaving the wood?  Don’t think there is much you can do now it’s fitted but £400 is less than 10% so I would ask for more.

Hi- thanks for your comments. We were not at the property when the wood arrived and we had received 2 receipts stating it was the “Glen” wood we had originally picked and paid for. One from the manufacturer and then one from the supplier so we had trusted it would be the correct product. As you can imagine we were full on busy with moving out of a property so had absolutely no reason to suspect anything was wrong and trusted the receipts which stated “Glen”. We had booked a joiner to get this work done quickly so that the rest of the moving plans could fall into place.
