What benefits when ending a fixed term contract?

I have asked this before, but wanted to check.
If a fixed term contract is ended either early or ended when it was supposed to end, what entitlements are you allowed to help tide you over until you find another job?

None. That's the nature of the employment.0

I mean in terms of JSA/Council Tax etc etc0

Possibly claim New Style JSA if your NI contributions meet the requirements. Otherwise it would be claiming Universal Credit. Without knowing more about your situation it's not possible to know if you would qualify for either.

Question for the benefits rather than the employment board.IAMIAM said:I mean in terms of JSA/Council Tax etc etc0 -
How long was/might the fixed term be?
I absolutely cannot see why you would not qualify for state help. If needed.
As someone who left 'permanent' employment actually just a little shy of 6 months (I had left for another job which was fixed term and what turned out a terrible idea, I've since gone on to get another job/contract stability altogether) but before as there had been a Universal credit claim previously, it just re-ignited. (the business with the 'permanent' role had also smelly dissolved whom HRMC allowed me to be paid under but hey, the jobcentre never directly came out with well you've left a company that has now been recorded as dissolved) I left well but the very next day rather distressingly become a benefit claimant, it was the last thing expected but because of live feeds and what/when employer reports. As much as it isn't believed, I didn't actually lift a finger to restart any claim.
This is my longest time on UC, finding out how UC steps in/is in the background because of when receiving little to no wages. I personally didn't go near the council for council tax reduction knowing they've messed up bills previously and it was purely just one less hassle personally. But your council could be very different so please apply for everything if eligible.1 -
Most in your position would have some kind of savings or contingency fund to cover periods of unemployment. After all, with this type of employment, it is not as if they are unexpected.IAMIAM said:I have asked this before, but wanted to check.

See and check if you are likely to be eligible: https://www.gov.uk/universal-creditIAMIAM said:I have asked this before, but wanted to check.

Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0
