Wedding Photographer Blocked Me Over Optional Extras Meeting?

Hi all

My wedding photographer has blocked my number and isn't responding to my emails. Here's what happened:

We got married in Summer despite some restrictions. I paid for a package including videography and still photography with an engagement shoot. I paid in full prior to the event.

We received photos and a preview video hosted on Youtube a couple of months later (summer being a very busy period for photographers). He then invited my wife to meet him to discuss albums in November (I was not included in the email correspondence). I was not keen on purchasing an album as the prices were quite high on top of the £2000 I already paid but she said she might buy one as a gift to family so arranged to meet. First meeting was cancelled as he had to self isolate. By this point it was late November and we had decided to try to go on holiday over Christmas (Omicron allowing!).
So much time had past that the allure of getting an album had somewhat worn off for my wife. Finances also had to be allocated elsewhere (energy supplier collapsed and bill increased+++). So my wife cancelled the meeting stating that she had changed her mind. He then proceeds to block our numbers and doesn't respond to emails.

The trouble is we do not have the video ... just access to a preview hosted on Youtube.

I can see why he is annoyed at my wife for letting him down but as the contract for photography and videography was with me, and paid for by me, I don't see why I cannot get the video that I have paid for.

  • Did your contract make it clear a hard copy (DVD, USB??) of the video was to be provided or could it be the YouTube version is all you're actually entitled to?

It said on USB flash drive. I'm assuming this would have been given at the optional extras meeting? A download link would be fine though. I fail to see the use of a Youtube link hosted and maintained by the photographer. It also wouldn't be too difficult to make a copy available to the customer.
