  • There are loads... check out all the different ones here: http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/MP3_Players.1/

sadly, there's not many that'll give you 80gb of storage for 150 quid. I'm not an apple fanboy, i hate the firm but like the new ipod.. i use to have a 30gb Creative Zen Xtra (till it broke) and i'm quite sad they never made a good competitor to the ipod classic (they do a new model called the Zen, which is amazing but doesn't use a HD )
  • iPod video 30GB. A bit chunky, but did me good until my sister killed it...
(She threw it off a towerblock - it's not as fragile as it looks, as long as you take care of it)

  • OK. Think I'm likely to go for an 8GB iPod nano (in Black maybe? - Oh, why all the choices?!! Thinking black, as many of the docking station/speaker systems I've seen are black)... anyone know where the cheapest deal is on a black one at the mo? Seen a silver one in The Link for £116.34, but no black nanos there!

  • OK, have now bought 8GB nano for £119 from play.com with free delivery & half price super-duper 5* rated speaker/docking station, so total £149.98. Good deal, so very pleased. Thanks again for everyone's help. x

Hi, just checking, as I am very thick where this techie stuff is concerned.
Managed to get a 8gb nano for £109 from Boots - but are there different types, and have I got an 'old' one ?
I keep seeing things about 3rd generation, and NEW nanos. Will mine be an old one ?
I have already wrapped it up, but still have the receipt - but would rather get the 'right one' before Xmas, rather than fight thru the post Xmas sales/return rush - plus have a disappointed son on Christmas morning realising his mother isn't safe to be let out to do the shopping without messing up.
    Thanks for any advice.

Looking at the Boots site an 8gb 3rd Generation (i.e. new one) is £129

Can't see an 8gb old type one though

New ones look like this in shape

    Old ones like this

Sounds as if you have a second generation one. These are fine but don't play videos which is what the new ones do

Thanks but panic over - called in store today and they still have some on display - £109 for the white, £119 for all the rest, and it says on the label "3G" and "new", so I know I have the right one.
Definitely the 8GB, I really wanted the Classic 80gb, but cheapest anywhere was about £143. I presume with the latest "touch" etc, they will be constantly updating/improving them, so decided I had to draw the line somewhere.
Thanks for all the techie info, a real blessing for this Old Bag :T
