Tonsil stone removal

Hi there
I have a white lump on my tonsil that is very irritating feeling - and it has been there over 2 years

The gp says it is a tonsil stone, and to gargle salt water  to get rid of it - however it seems to be embedded

how can i get rid of this, it is driving me mental now lol
With love, POSR <3

No-one can give medical advice on the forum.

The best thing to do is to return to the GP, explain that the treatment so far has not been successful and the impact this is having on you.

The GP may then recommend alternative treatment or refer to a specialist.

Good luck in finding a resolution.

Are you a regular attender at a dentist? Ask him/her to have a look at it next time you have a check up?

I've hooked one or two out for patients in the past.

Don't make an appointment especially for it, as it's not a dental problem, and by no means certain the dentist will want to do anything - but if you've had it that long anyway, another few months won't hurt, and then no harm asking.

Although if anyone ever does have any lumps or bumps in or around the mouth, then booking in for a dentist to look at it is often a better route to go than booking in with a Dr. We do things in & around the mouth in far more depth than GPs do.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

I used to get them all the time and could feel them sometimes so used to give them a quick swipe with a cotton bud, it sometimes removed them but the hole would soon fill with another one.
I’m sure it’s not advisable to do it yourself so not recommending this as a solution just really saying that when it does come out there will be others as you will have a hole there.
I have since had tonsils out as kept getting repeat bouts of tonsillitis.
Entering a few comps here and there 2020 seems my best year for wins so far:- iphone xs, limited edition whiskey, Masha and the Bear toys, newborn baby stuff, 3 x books, 12 months membership to diet app, bottle of syrup, Baby Shark singing puppet, children’s book, Nasty vegan shake x 2 packs.
