Washing machine microplastic filters

Options
Just seen there is going to be a debate in Parliament about making these mandatory in washing machines.

I wondered if anyone on here has fitted one retrospectively?

I found one looking on google but it was about £50 and made of plastic :) so wasnt sure if anyone had used that one or any others?

Whats going to happen to all these clogged up filters that will end up either in landfill or some dubious recycling process. If you consider all the fluff and stuff that you have to clean out of a tumble dryer how long do you reckon one of these magic filters will last when clogged with washing detritus as they'll have to be uncommonly fine to filter out microplastics.

In my opinion they are another nice little earner based on making people feel guilty possibly to be foisted upon us by another nutty lobby group who cant see the ongoing unintended consequences of just shifting it from one place to another without a long term solution.

Or indeed if the filters can be re-used (perhaps by back flushing) any trapped debris would still end up in the waste water stream !

Doesn't back flushing sort of defeat the object, a bit like particulate filters in diesel cars which end up getting burnt off to regenerate them  :/
