Not all banks perform an additional credit check prior to completion. You can anonymously call the bank and ask them this - whether you want to know the answer or not is something else. As others have said, do not do anything more that could affect your credit file. Use the card, have a low balance and pay it off in full. 

I know how you are feeling from experience when my identity was stolen and 6 credit card applications were made in my name between the offer being made and completion. I called them anonymously (private number) and the person on the other end confirmed no further checks normally occurred. Even though I had valid comments on my credit file to explain the anomalies - it would have led to delays for sure.
